Developing the vision for STEP at West Burton
To help develop the vision for STEP at West Burton, an online tool has been created to capture the current context of the site locally and regionally. This will help to conceptualise some preliminary aspirations for the campus, share the likely phasing of its evolution and to seek feedback.
View and feedbackShaping the design
Four themes have been identified that will support the design process for the campus at West Burton. These principles reflect the golden thread between national policy objectives and local ambitions.
Inclusive Economy Delivering benefit to local people and the economy.
Health and Wellbeing Promoting healthy and safe communities for employees, visitors and local people.
Environment Adopting innovation and best practice to seek climate change resilience, biodiversity and energy security.
Identity and Distinctiveness Responding positively to the character and heritage of the location.
View and feedbackSpatial Principles
STEP is a publicly funded major infrastructure programme and aims to demonstrate a commercial pathway to fusion. Value for money is a core underlying principle, to be considered as we progress the vision for West Burton campus. To help achieve this, a set of eight spatial principles have been developed, which is a planning term for how the site will develop.
View and feedbackBe part of the future
Your feedback will be used to help guide the design and master planning process. It will be collated, reviewed, and balanced alongside the operational requirements of the STEP facility and the physical and environmental characteristics of the campus.
